How to extend the life of your HORIBA ICP-OES spectrometer and what mistakes to avoid

We know how important it is for you to work with an instrument that is in perfect condition, ensuring optimal analysis and research results with minimum disruption to your business. That's why we strongly recommend regular maintenance of your HORIBA ICP-OES instrument. To help you do this, we've identified the most common mistakes that you should avoid to prolong the life of your spectrometer.

The first mistake to avoid with your HORIBA spectrometer is unclogging the nebulizer by inserting a foreign body.

As for glass nebulizers, you should never put them in an ultrasonic bath, as this could damage them.

Next, we recommend that you avoid over-tightening the pump tubes. Over-tightening can lead to premature wear and tear, as well as pulsating flow.

In addition, we advise you not to leave your bottles open for long periods of time. This will lead to evaporation and possible concentration. The products will also collect dust, which may contaminate your samples and eventually clog the nebulizer of your HORIBA ICP-OES spectrometer.

Our experts also recommend that you avoid working at too high a power level if the nature of your sample does not necessarily require it.

Finally, to prolong the life of your HORIBA spectrometers, you should avoid working with acid concentrations that are too high. This will not only lead to premature wear of the inlet equipment, but also to corrosion in the sample compartment and autosampler. We recommend the use of an extraction hood for the sample compartment.

Our ICP-OES spectrometers are highly reliable instruments. Simply take care of them and maintain them properly to extend their service lifetime.

Repeated misuse of your ICP-OES spectrometer could result in premature failures, measurement errors, sample damage, production downtime or high repair costs.
