Maintenance and replacement:
- Visual Check: Regularly inspect the O-Ring P16 for any signs of wear, such as cracks, cuts, flattening, or any other deformities. A damaged O-ring can compromise the seal and lead to leaks. Replace the O-ring immediately if you notice any visible damage such as cracks, nicks, cuts, or if it has become flattened or misshapen.
- Surface Condition: Ensure that the surface of the O-ring is smooth and free from any residue or buildup. Contaminants can weaken the O-ring material over time or affect the seal's integrity.
- Frequent Leaks: If you notice frequent leaks or if the instrument's performance has degraded (e.g., inconsistent results, loss of vacuum, or pressure), the O-ring may be compromised and needs to be replaced.
- Avoid Stretching: When handling the O-ring, avoid excessive stretching or twisting, as this can cause permanent deformation or weaken the material.
- Loss of Elasticity: If the O-ring has lost its elasticity and no longer springs back to its original shape after being compressed, it should be replaced. A hardened or brittle O-ring will not provide a proper seal.
- Proper Installation: Ensure that the O-ring is correctly seated in its groove or sealing surface. Misalignment can cause uneven pressure, leading to leaks or premature wear.
