Hssen Fares: Molecular Fluorescence Product Application Specialist

Hssen Fares is a Product Application Specialist in Molecular Fluorescence within the Instrument Business Unit at HORIBA France in Palaiseau.

Hssen leads fluorescence training sessions at HORIBA France:

These training courses are designed for users of HORIBA fluorescence spectrometers. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or expert, the courses can be tailored to the participants’ skill levels. These courses cover topics such as fluorescence state and lifetime measurements, and PLQY.

“Every transfer of knowledge is a step toward collective progress”

Hssen holds a Ph.D. in Physics (2016) with expertise in fluorescence spectroscopy, photonics, optical instrumentation, and advanced materials characterization.
During his Ph.D. and postdoctoral research, Hssen focused on investigating the fluorescence and phosphorescence properties of a wide range of materials, including rare-earth-doped systems, metallic clusters, nanoparticles, and photonic glasses. He has contributed to several scientific publications in the fields of luminescence, optical materials, and nanostructured systems.

He subsequently worked as an R&D engineer on international projects, notably in São Paulo, Brazil, and at the ICMCB CNRS in Bordeaux, as well as a researcher at the University of Toulon.

His research particularly explored energy transfer mechanisms, tunable luminescence, and the development of advanced fluorescent materials for photonic applications.

In terms of his achievements, Hssen Fares has authored 17 scientific articles and presented at more than 15 international scientific conferences on the topic of the spectroscopic and luminescent properties of rare earths and glass-doped nanoclusters for linear and nonlinear optical applications.
Following his academic career, Hssen transitioned into industrial applications as a Fluorescence Application Specialist. In this role, he supports customers in developing analytical solutions, conducting feasibility studies, performing demonstrations, delivering training, and optimizing measurement methodologies.
He focuses on bridging the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications by transforming complex optical and spectroscopic challenges into practical and reliable solutions.
Hssen works in a variety of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, the environment, energy, materials, and biology, handling all types of samples, whether solid, liquid, or powdered.
