Solvent extractant solutionDesigned especially for reclaiming S-316 solvent, this unit features a double column of activated carbon and activated aluminum. It has a large filtering capacity, is easy to operate, and requires no electricity.
Extraction solvent used with HORIBA Oil in Water analyzers OCMA (models, OCMA-310, OCMA-550, and OCMA-500). The solvent Horiba S-316 is used to extract the oil and grease (Total Hydrocarbons) from a water based sample as well as to extract hydrocarbons from metal parts (for contamination check). The S-316 has a large filtering capacity, is easy to operate, and requires no electricity.
This solvent is required to:
- Prepare the calibration solution to calibrate the infrared Spectrometer OCMA: pure solvent (zero Calibration), solvent + oil (span calibration).
- Extract the oil and grease from the sample.
- Perform the measurement by Infrared Absorption (NDIR).
- Clean the measurement cell.
One bottle of S-316 allows performing up to 40 measurements* on a previously calibrated OCMA-550 analyzer.
HORIBA Oil Content Analysers, OCMA series, all use the highly effective, environmentally-safe S-316 extraction solvent to extract the oil components from oily water samples, soil samples, or product surfaces. The extract is analysed using IR absorbance, a non-dispersive infrared spectrophotometric technique which is specific to hydrocarbons such as oil.
The S-316 Solvent can be recycled with the aid of the optional SR-305 Solvent Reclaimer. Recycling the solvent not only cuts your solvent costs, but also helps protect the environment.
